e wanted, needed, absolutely had to have these
glitter combat boots from children's place.
of course, these were put out with the back-to-school items ... in june.
e pined for them the entire summer.
i finally broke down in august & purchased them.
they were worn ... once.
the glitter, unfortunately, did not want to stay put.
much to e's dismay, she was leaving a trail of pixie dust in her wake as she stomped around.
i was not about to admit defeat to these boots though,
especially considering the $29.95 price tag,
so i decided to mod podge them in the hopes that this would keep the glitter in tact.
i removed the laces from the boots, & pulled the tongue forward
so that the mod podge could reach every spot & dry without touching anything.
then i covered anywhere the boot was glittery with a thick coat of mod podge.
didn't look so pretty when wet ...
... but dried completely invisible & it worked!
for the most part, at least.
e's boots still shed a glitter or two,
but no where as much as they did before the mod podge.
she's loving her boots again!
if you've used mod podge on clothing items/shoes,
what type of projects have you come up with?
what type of projects have you come up with?

That's a great idea! I've seen those glitter shoes after a few weeks and there is no glitter left on them. I have refused to buy them for my daughter for that reason. Now I'm going to have a touch of guilt over that!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had thought about the glitter coming off before I purchased them ... it was EVERYWHERE! even with the mod podge, I still find specks of it here & there ;)
